Logan McLean, Esports Advisor, for NGame Esports talks about the collaboration between the University of Kentucky and Gen.G Esports.
The University of Kentucky recently partnered with esports organization Gen.G Esports to build an esports and gaming program. What makes this an excellent partnership for the University of Kentucky?
The hope is that the partnership between Gen.G and the University of Kentucky will act as a blueprint for further collegiate programs looking to add esports to their campus offerings. I believe that this is the level of collaboration necessary to bring the esports genre further into the limelight. Kentucky will hope to build an esports division comparable to its current athletic programs. Gen.G certainly will have the knowledge and ability to assist the university in achieving this goal.
Do you think this will be a great learning opportunity for universities that are planning to engage in esports?
I firmly believe that if there is a strong collaboration between both parties, the University of Kentucky and Gen.G Esports, the resulting relationship will quickly become industry standard for colleges and universities looking to add esports curriculum and competition. This will also swiftly brush aside many of the pseudo-consultants with little to offer.
