ReKTGlobal, the parent company of North American organization Rogue and the London Call of Duty franchise, has announced French NBA basketball player Rudy Gobert as its latest investor. What value does this bring to Rudy Gobert?
ReKTGLobal has announced that Rudy Gobert is the latest celebrity investor to enter into their fold. Gobert joins a powerful group of successful musical talents in Nicky Romero, members of Imagine Dragons; Steve Aoki as well as Marco “Tainy” Masis and Lex Borrero. For Gobert, this passion fueled venture is likely to yield tremendous returns over time, providing Mr. Gobert with both emotional fulfillment and financial gain.
Do you think esports and professional athlete investments will continue to happen?
I believe that esports and further traditional sports investment are intrinsically linked to professional athletes. As competitors, athletes fundamentally understand the concepts that transpose both fields of competition. The spirit of competition, teamwork, the highs of winning, the lows of losing, and the adoration of fans.
Athletes can sense that there is something to “this esports thing” because I believe that they are in tune with the furor of fans. Fans who are demanding to be able to watch their teams wear their merchandise, support their players, and attend their matches. It is a market to fill, and investment will continue.
