Perspective: A TV Network For Esports

Logan McLean, Esports Advisor, for NGame Esports talks about new start-up Venn and its ambitions to create a TV network for esports.

Venn, a new start-up hopes to create a TV network for video game fans. What exposure could this bring for esports?

While appealing conceptually, the founders at Venn appear to have missed the mark on judging audience desires. Consumption of gaming content is at an all-time high. However, the game being played is not the only storyline the audience is paying attention to. The connection viewers make with the personality on display, and the content is what captures the viewer.

It is not enough to create a great network and content distribution model if you do not buy out streamers and content creators from existing platforms.

What challenges will Venn have to overcome to make this successful?

The viewer base Venn is looking to secure is very fickle, and early missteps will spell doom for the project. If early adopters have a negative first impression, it will be incredibly hard for Venn to overcome the negative reputation.
