Logan McLean, Esports Advisor, for NGame Esports talks about leadership transition on esports teams.
Overwatch League franchise Houston Outlaws recently appointed Chris DeAppolonio as its new President. As a company in transition, how important is it to have the right leadership in place?
No matter the situation of the company, it is paramount to have the leadership to enable the success of the brand and its employees. Looking specifically at the appointment of Chris DeAppolonio as President of the Houston Outlaws, the selection will serve to steady the ship during a transitionary period for the Outlaws. Chris’ familiarity and comfort with the inner workings of the Outlaws and partner relationships should dispel any concerns from both fans and brands.
From your perspective, what is the best way to manage partnership relationships during a time when the organization has a transition?
I do not believe there is a de-facto best way to manage brand-deals, partnerships, sponsorships, etc. while an organization is in a transitional period. I am a firm believer in handling each instance on a case-by-case basis. Some of which inevitably require more time and energy than others, but you cannot assume everything is status quo.
