North American esports organization, Pittsburgh Knights, announced a strategic partnership with rapper and superstar Wiz Khalifa. What advantages does a person like Wiz Khalifa bring to the Pittsburgh Knights?

With the boundless love that video games have, it is not surprising that the Pittsburgh Knights have teamed up with (Wiz Khalifa) to make a brand push. HyperX and others have used celebrities to endorse products and sponsors for a while now, and it will not be long until more stars are on board. The best thing Wiz Khalifa does for the Knights is merely showing off the brand. Brand awareness is half the battle in esports, and a massive celebrity that is large within the gaming community can jump-start that image.

In 2019 there have been several musicians engage with esports by becoming investors in teams and gaming platforms. Why do you think esports is so attractive to musicians/celebrities and could this be a long term movement?

I would not necessarily say that esports is attractive to musicians, but gaming as a whole has progressed more into our society. It is more about famous people enjoying video games that the rest of us “Average Joe’s” play at home. It is an excellent way to humanize a celebrity.
