Evan Tipton, Esports Advisor, for NGame Esports talks about the job market in esports.
HitmarkerJobs.com found that global esports jobs grew 185.7% in the first six months of 2019 versus the same time in 2018. Do you think job growth is a good indicator of the opportunities esports can bring to the table?
Hitmarker has been one of the most sought after sites when it comes to job opportunities within the esports and gaming industry. The growth of Hitmarker has validated the growth of the industry over the past few years. Esports can bring jobs within tech, entertainment, and much more. The more we invest, the more we see job opportunities open up.
The state of California leads the US job market for esports. Do you think this is due to the entrepreneurial environment in California or something else?
California was one of the first states to invest heavily in esports. This has a lot to do with where the companies were initially located when attempting to start a competitive league. After seeing how much easier it was to keep everyone together in order of teams and organizations, it became the norm. After a few years, people started expanding to places such as Texas, St. Louis, and Chicago. It will not be long until we have national teams as a norm.
