John Macone, Former Esports Advisor, for NGame Esports talks about the marketing of Madden 20.
Madden 20 recently released a list of players on the game that will have “Superstar X-Factor” abilities. In your opinion, why do you think this is such a great marketing tool to build anticipation for the upcoming release of Madden 20?
The inclusion of the “Superstar X-factor” mechanics for Madden 20 are great marketing tools because of the fact that they are a major shift for the series. They present something new to the fan base of the franchise, and may even bring back players who grew bored of the prior formula. It also serves as a great marketing tool by building anticipation and curiosity about these systems and how they work.
Do you think developers should provide every new feature of an upcoming game release or should they just provide a few to build excitement?
I believe that both approaches work well, but in the modern era, people expect to learn a lot about major titles before they release. That being said, there is also plenty of evidence in communities that a lack of full information is still appreciated, so long as what is shown is sufficient to give people a better idea of what they are buying.
